Growth Marketing Lead

About Neutreeno

Climate change is the defining business challenge of our time, and we're here to solve it. Most decarbonisation solutions count emissions but do nothing to reduce them. We've changed that.

We’re Neutreeno, an emissions-to-performance platform, born out of the University of Cambridge's Department of Engineering. We help companies with supply chains and production processes turn emissions data into operational insight, the kind that cuts costs, sharpens decisions, and unlocks genuine competitive advantage. For operations and finance, it's margin they can measure. For sustainability teams, it's progress they can prove. Same data, two audiences, one engine.

We’re a fast-moving team that values EQ just as much as IQ. Autonomy, high-ownership, speed and no-ego collaboration are at our core. We seek people who care deeply and are eager to work on solving problems bigger than themselves.

The Role

At Neutreeno, marketing is the engine, and as our Growth Marketing Lead, you'll own the metrics, build the pipeline, and be accountable for connecting marketing to measurable business outcomes.

You'll lead marketing at Neutreeno and be fully accountable for pipeline. There's no marketing team under you and no system to inherit. Your first 90 days are about shipping: measurement infrastructure, the content engine including CRM, and the first paid campaigns. The leadership team, working with our brand strategy partner, has defined a clear brand strategy and mapped the needs of the business. Your job is to build on this foundation and turn it into pipeline for our sales team.

This position operates on a hybrid work model with 3 days per week in our Cambridge office. Fully remote arrangements will be considered for outstanding candidates, provided there is sufficient overlap with UK working hours.

The Work You’ll Do

• Oversee the build and rollout of a working attribution model and measurement dashboard- working with a contracted specialist to get this stood up- so every conversation about marketing is grounded in data.
• Own the weekly marketing performance and optimisation reports.
• Run paid campaigns each quarter, end to end: define a regular process for the business of planning, execution, and retrospection.
• Regularly publish long-form content per month that translate Neutreeno's science into the commercial language our buyers use.
• Regularly build case studies and customer stories that position our offering competitively and help us close deals.
• Build a public relations framework that lands us speaking slots, media placements, or podcast appearances each quarter.
• Own lifecycle marketing end-to-end: inbound and outbound email, welcome sequences, nurture flows, all managed in our CRM.
• Work in close partnership with the BDR team to align top-of-funnel marketing activity with outbound sales. Your primary near-term goal is generating qualified volume for BDRs to convert.
• Build and maintain our sales enablement kit: pitch deck, one-pagers, case studies.
• Shape, evolve, and articulate Neutreeno's vision, voice, and positioning across all channels, in partnership with the leadership team and our brand partners.

The Minimum Qualifications You’ll Need

• You've been the first or second marketing hire at a startup before, not a contributor on a team. You know what it feels like to own a number with no one to escalate to.
• 6+ years across the full marketing lifecycle at fast-growing tech companies (B2B SaaS preferred), at least 2 of them in a startup environment where you were expected to build, not maintain, with a proven track record of connecting marketing efforts to MQL generation and revenue.
• You default to shipping over planning. Given a vague brief, your instinct is to produce a v1 quickly and iterate — not to schedule three alignment meetings.
• You can write. Genuinely. For a challenger brand where copy is doing strategic work.
• You use AI tools daily to compress production timelines, drafting, research, analysis, creative iteration — without letting output quality slip.
• You can translate complex technical ideas into narratives that land with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• You’re comfortable working closely with company leadership, serving as a thought partner in direction and positioning.
• Default to shipping.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the sustainability or climate sector strongly preferred.
• Experience marketing technical products to non-technical buyers (operations, finance, procurement).
• Proficiency in design tools such as Figma.

Compensation & Benefits:

• £60,000 - £80,000 base pay dependent on your skills, qualifications and experience.
• 25 days annual leave.
• Year-end performance bonus.
• Meaningful equity stake. We want you to think and benefit like an owner as the company grows.
• Company pension with NEST.
• Leading private health insurance with WPA (the only Which? Recommended Provider for Private Medical Insurance).
• Cycle to work scheme.

Work Environment:

• A hybrid work model that fosters both teamwork and individual flexibility.
• Remote working allowance for personal travel, in addition to regular holiday policy (2 weeks per year).
• Work from Neutreeno HQ at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, recognised by the FT as one of Europe's leading startup hubs.
• Great on-site amenities (unlimited free coffee, regular events with global sustainability leaders, and more).

Culture & Growth:

• A fast-growing team (200%+ YoY growth) from diverse backgrounds that recently closed a $5M seed round.
• An open-minded culture with a flat hierarchy and everyone vectoring in the same direction and where ideas and ownership matter.
• The chance to work alongside world-class climate scientists and engineers on one of the most important problems of our time.

How we hire

Here’s what to expect if you apply. The whole process has four steps.

Intro call with our Operations and Finance Lead, Jobey (30 mins). A chance for us to learn about your background and what you’re looking for, and for you to ask about Neutreeno and the role.

Interview with two members of the Commercial team (45 mins). We’ll talk through your experience with building marketing systems from the ground up and the kinds of problems you’d work on here.

Take-home exercise. A short task based on the work we do. You’ll have 2–3 days to complete it, followed by a de-brief with the commercial team (around 30 mins).

Final interview with Spencer (CEO) and Prof. Jon Cullen (co-founder) (45 mins). A conversation about where Neutreeno is heading and how you’d fit into it.

If you need any adjustments at any stage, such as extra time on the exercise or a different interview format, just tell us. We’re happy to help.
